What is Imposture Syndrome?

It’s the oozing globs of sweat under my armpits as I stuff my sentences with jargon and a scrambled, panicked outpouring of words, hoping to impress the people judging me. All of it fueled by my aching, natural need to belong.

It’s when they tell you the sky is green and you’re really seeing it’s blue.

It’s when White women – some desperately – want to sit at the table and Black women see the table is rotten.

It’s You’re Never Gonna be One of Us Syndrome.

It’s never individual psychopathology. It’s really brainwashing fueled by gender bias, systemic racism and xenophobia.
